PADI Open Water
During this 4 day course you will become familiar with the scuba diving equipment and develop skills for safe and enjoyable diving. The PADI Open Water Diver certification is the world’s most widely recognised diving certification. Upon completion, you have the freedom to dive with a buddy independent of a professional. Go out and experience the thrill and adventure of diving around the world!
What is involved in the Open Water Course?
You must watch chapters 1-5 of the DVD and read chapters 1-5 of the Open Water Manual, your manual is included in the price of the course you can fill out the quizzes and knowledge reviews as you go along.
There are 4 mulitple choice quizzes of 10 questions each and one mulitple choice exam at the end.
You must complete the Confined Water training sessions and 4 Open Water dives (the Discover Scuba Dive can be counted as one of these).
If you are already a PADI Scuba Diver you only need to complete knowledge development 4 and 5, confined water sessions 4 and 5 and 2 more Open Water dives to earn the certification (2 days).
What do I need to start?
Virtually anyone who is in good health (please view the medical statement), reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can give it a go.
You must be able to swim comfortably 200m and float for 10 mins with no equipment or buoyancy aids.
You must be minimum 15 years old to get the Open Water Diver certification. If you are 10 to 14 years old you can receive the Junior Open Water Diver certification.
What is the next step?
Once you have complete the Open Water Course you can go onto the Advanced Open Water course or simply make Adventure dives.
What does it cost?
The cost of the Open Water Diver course is RM 950. This includes equipment rental, boat dives and certification. You also get the PADI Open water Manual, log book and a recreational dive planner to help you plan and record future dives. The Scuba Diver upgrade to Open Water Diver costs RM 600.
